Introduction:

This program is designed for the person that is serious about changing their life NOW!  They don’t want to wait one more moment to become the best they can be.  They know they need help and a support network and don’t want to guess what to do next.  They are willing to give it their all for the next 8 weeks.  They want people in a short period of time to look at them and say “WOW! I can’t believe the change”.  If you are that person, this is your program.  That is why we call it EXTREME. 

How do I get started in the Extreme Wellness Makeover?
Once you have decided to change your life for the better you will complete an application to determine if this program is right for you.  If selected, we will start your pre-program assessment which will include a consultation with one of our doctors to discuss your current situation and goals, a complete history, an examination, a scan of your spine and nervous system, a comprehensive blood profile and urinalysis.* You will set up your appointment schedule for the next 8 weeks at both Angelic Wellness and a local gym.

*The cost of the required pre- and post-blood profile and urinalysis is not covered under this program.  You may get this done through our office or your medical doctor.

What’s included in the Extreme Wellness Makeover?

1. Classes (Weekly)

Making lasting change will require quality information and practice.  We are creatures of habit, so if you don’t learn new ways of living, you will go back to the old ways when times get tough. That is what you know and are comfortable with.  But let’s face it, if what you are currently doing is really working why are you reading this? 

Over the 8-week period of the Extreme Wellness Makeover we will have 9 classes for you to attend.  The first class is an orientation class where you will learn the basics of keeping your nervous system functioning optimally, what we are treating, why we are treating it and what you can do at home to make your alignments last. 

You will learn fast and easy food preparation, how to build personal affirmations that will change your life, the importance of building personal goals, how to meditate and how visualization will make things happen, stress management and the many aspects included in a healthy lifestyle.  The classes are set up to be not only informational but also supportive.  You will be part of a group with the common goal of changing your life for the better and will be able to share challenges and triumphs. 

2. Chiropractic Adjustments (twice a week)

The foundation of a Wellness lifestyle is alignment of your thoughts and actions, words and deeds, eating habits and exercise, and in your body’s structure.  The foundational philosophy of chiropractic is that your body is self-healing and self-regulating as long as nothing is preventing your nervous system from doing it’s job.  As you are working hard at the gym to strengthen your muscles, we will be sure that you are using these muscles appropriately to keep you from getting injured.  Your chiropractic adjustments will reduce or eliminate stresses on your nervous system, balance the foundation of your spine and allow you to better receive the healing you will be attaining in this program. 

Chiropractic is about removing the stress from the nervous system.  Your nervous system is the control center of your entire body.  When you have a misalignment of your spine, extremities (arms or legs), cranium (head) or organ system (heart, lungs, kidneys, etc.),  your body does not function properly.  A nervous system that does not function properly has a decreased ability to be self-healing and self-regulating.  This eventually leads to dis-function and dis-ease.  Regular chiropractic adjustments are part of a healthy wellness lifestyle.

3. Customized Healthy Eating Program

You will be taught how to eat a variety of delicious meals made of living enzyme-full, nutrient- dense, fiber-filled foods.  In this program we will explain and stress the importance of eating living foods or raw foods.  You will be encouraged to always carry food with you so you don’t fall prey to nutrient-poor convenient foods when you are away from home.  On this program you will never feel hungry.  You will eat at least 3 healthy easy-to-prepare meals a day.  This will include amazingly delicious yet healthy desserts.  Because you are also going through a detoxification program there will be many common foods that you will be asked to give up for the next 8 weeks.  These include all the foods that commonly create allergic reactions in people.  Once you have completed the program you can add the healthy and nutritious foods back one at a time to determine how your body reacts to it.  Any food that causes dis-ease or bad feeling should be eliminated from your diet entirely.  The elimination list includes:
All gluten-containing foods like wheat, rye and barley which are commonly found in breads, pasta and other products from refined flour. 
Alcohol, caffeine (coffee, black teas) soymilk, soda and fruit drinks that are high in refined sugars. 
Pork, cold cuts, bacon, hot dogs, canned meat, sausage and shellfish. 
Corn and cooked tomatoes. 
Eggs and all dairy (milk, cheese, butter, yogurt, etc.) 
Citrus fruits and juices, strawberries and pineapples. 
Foods high in fats and oils, including peanuts, refined oils, margarine and shortening. 
Any other foods not listed that you know you are sensitive or allergic to. 
The bonus on this diet is that you will also shed pounds and build muscle.   The closer you stick to the suggested diet, the more your weight will normalize. 

For optimal results we suggest eating a raw vegetarian diet for 8 weeks. There are some individuals that do not thrive on a meatless diet.  If this is found to be the case, your wellness coach will help you to add additional proteins.  Either way, the above foods must be eliminated during the first two steps of the nutritional detoxification program.

4. Membership to a Local Gym with Personal Training (twice a week)

During the week before your program begins you will join a local gym, get your pre-program scan and set up your personal training sessions.  The pre-program screening will include a brief history, a discussion of your fitness goals, determination of your weight and percentage of body fat, and body measurements.  This screening will be done before you begin to determine where you are at the start, again after one month to determine if any changes need to be made to improve your outcome, and at the end of your program to see the final results. 
You will be working out with a personal trainer for 30 minutes twice a week doing strength training.  You will also be doing cardiovascular workouts and stretching daily.  We encourage you to join in the many classes offered by the gym to find out what you enjoy the most.  Workouts should be fun yet challenging.  Learn what is best for you because regular exercise is an essential part of a health and wellness lifestyle.
 
You will be keeping track of all your experiences during the Extreme Wellness Makeover.  The gym will set you up in their computer where you will log in all your workouts, foods, beverages, stress level, emotions and thoughts.  This is an important part of your program because this journal will be used by your Extreme Wellness Makeover coach to help you stay on course.

5. Foot Detoxification (twice a week)

If appropriate, you will submerge your feet in the IonCleanse foot detoxification bath where a small electrical current will pull toxins out of your body through the large pores of your feet.  We recommend that this be scheduled after each of your personal training sessions to decrease the muscular soreness that accompanies strength training.  The IonCleanse detoxification is an integral part of your total detoxification program. It helps to decrease the symptoms frequently associated with a detox program, such as muscular soreness and headaches, as well as cold and flu-like symptoms. 

You will not participate in this aspect of the program if you have a pacemaker, are pregnant or are taking any drug that must have a precise blood level (such as anti-psychotic drugs).

6. Nutritional Detoxification

This is a 3-step process that will integrate into your new healthy diet and be supported by the IonCleanse foot detoxification.

Step 1 usually lasts one week.  Any beverages that will give you a headache if eliminated immediately, such as black tea, soda, energy drinks and coffee, will gradually be decreased during this week.  You will be given certain nutrients that are designed to stimulate the ability to process the toxins released in Step 2.  Any foods that are known irritants are eliminated, as well as all the foods that cause most problems for many people. (See above Customized Healthy Eating Program) 

Step 2 usually lasts 10 days and consists of a packet of nutrients taken with each meal and a detox shake between meals as you continue on your healthy nutrient-dense diet.  That gives you a total of 5 meals a day.  Hunger should not be part of this program.  Your wellness coach will insure that you are not hungry.

Step 3 will continue for the remainder of the Extreme Wellness Program.  You will begin taking high quality multi-vitamins, multi-essential fatty acids and probiotics.  You will begin to add certain nutrient-dense foods eliminated in Step 1 back into your diet one at a time every 3 days.  During this step you will begin to determine what foods you are sensitive to so that they can be eliminated from your diet completely.  Eliminating foods that the body reacts to negatively is important for future health and wellness.

The length of time each step requires will depend on how your body reacts.  Your wellness coach will alter this program to meet each individual’s specific needs.

7. Non-surgical Facelifts (Weekly)

You will enjoy the youthful look gained by a weekly session of micro-current facelifts.  The hour-long process will stimulate changes in the 3 major layers of your skin.  By increasing the tone of your deeper layer or facial muscles you will notice a decreased jowl or “droop” to your face.  Stimulation of the dermis layer will increase the formation of the cells that form collagen, giving your facial skin more elasticity.  Finally, the outer layer of skin will smooth and even-out leaving you with decreased lines and wrinkles.  These sessions are truly relaxing and enjoyable. 

8. Massage (Weekly)

Your hour-long delicious massage will not only be relaxing but it will support you in the different aspects of your Extreme Wellness Makeover.  Stagnation in your lymphatic system will be decreased, helping to boost your immune system by releasing stored toxins from your deep muscles.  As muscles relax and normal tone returns, your chiropractic adjustments will “hold” your body in the balanced position necessary for your continued health and wellness.  The painful chemicals normally released by hard-working strained muscles from your work-out sessions will be converted or eliminated by your body.  Finally, your relaxed muscles will be followed by a more relaxed emotional state.  In short, massage will help integrate body, mind and spirit in your progressively healthier body.

9. Wellness Coaching Session (Weekly)

Living the wellness lifestyle will require a learning process.  The gym will set you up in their computer program where you will log in all your workouts, foods, beverages, stress level, emotions and thoughts.  Each week you will meet with a wellness coach to go over your progress that week.  The coach will discuss ways you can improve on your path to better health.  This step is actually one of the most important because this is where you, as a participant, are held accountable for your own progress.  Our goal is not to help you change your health and wellness for these 8 short weeks, but to help you change the rest of your life.  Since only you can do that, it is essential that this program be a springboard to your new happier future.  Your wellness coach will help you to do just that.

10. Hyperbaric Oxygenation Therapy (Weekly)

If appropriate, you will relax for an hour in the mild hyperbaric oxygenation chamber each week.  This unit inflates to over 34 inches in diameter and is over 8 feet long.  The chamber can easily fit both an adult and a child at the same time.  The chamber will increase the air pressure to 4 psi.  Because of this increased pressure, oxygen in your body will passively increase in the tissues.  This increased oxygen speeds healing, increases neurological functioning and increases detoxification of body tissue.  Currently, hyperbaric therapy is only covered by some insurance companies for diabetic wounds that do not heal, but if the most difficult wounds heal with hyperbaric, you can expect your body will too.  Currently in this country, hyperbaric treatments are being used for strokes, autism, ADD/ADHD, fibromyalgia, Alzheimer’s, memory loss, wound healing, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, head injuries, migraines, Parkinson’s, insomnia, Crohn’s and diabetes.

You can feel free to bring your personal pillow and blanket if it makes you more comfortable.  Some people like to bring a book, DVD player and a movie or an ipod to help pass the time.  We recommend using this time for meditation, visualization, personal affirmations, prayer or just a nice long nap.  The chamber is large enough to lie down or to sit up in.

This therapy is not recommended for patients with claustrophobia, emphysema, sinus problems, colds or flu.  Generally, if the  pressure change from flying causes a problem then hyperbaric will also cause the same type of distress.

11. Nutritional Supplementation

uring Step 3 of the detoxification program, you will be placed on a high-quality nutritional supplementation program that will include a high-quality multiple vitamin, a high-quality essential fatty acid supplement and a probiotic.  If your initial blood profile and urinalysis indicate a gross nutritional imbalance this will also be addressed during this step of the program.  The nutritional supplements used by Angelic Wellness are distributed by Biotics Research.  Biotics Research Corporation has been a leading manufacturer of specially designed nutritional products for over thirty years.  Their mission remains constant: to be the benchmark of excellence in nutritional science, technology and service, providing reliable innovative products of superior quality.

12. Recipe Book

We will be introducing you to a variety of delicious meals made of living enzyme-full, nutrient- dense, fiber-filled food.  Many of the health challenges that people face today are based on eating empty foods.  The healthiest foods available are fresh picked and eaten immediately before nutrients decrease.  The longer a food sits the less healthful it becomes.  Since heating any food above 105 degrees kills the living enzymes essential for you to get the nutrients into your body, you will need to eat most of your foods raw.  To help you do this we are including the recipe book, “Raw Foods Made Easy for 1 or 2 people” by Jennifer Cornbleet.  This book is full of amazingly delicious and easy-to-prepare living recipes.  Raw food does not mean salads for every meal and it does not mean a lot of work. Meals can be made more quickly when you don’t need to wait for food to cook.  Between your weekly classes, your wellness coach, the recipes that we give out at Angelic Wellness and this wonderful book you will be well on your way to a healthy delicious future.  Our goal is that you will choose to continue to eat 80% raw foods once your Extreme Wellness Makeover is completed.  For simplicity and flavor this book will be a favorite of yours for years to come.

13.  Meditation and Meditation CD

The amount of stress that most people experience every day is beyond what any other generation lived on a regular basis.  Stress can be positive, keeping us alert and ready to avoid danger.  Stress becomes negative when a person faces continuous challenges without relief or relaxation between challenges.  Stress is responsible for a multitude of health issues.  Many people use alcohol, tobacco or drugs to try to relieve their stress.  Unfortunately, instead of relieving the stress and returning the body to a relaxed state, these substances tend to keep the body in a stressed state and cause more problems.  Living stress-free is beyond most of us, but we can start to take control of our stress by breaking the cycle with meditation.  As part of this 8-week program you will be spending approximately 30 minutes a day in meditation.  To help you in this mini-stress vacation each day we will be including a self-relaxation/ meditation CD.  Since this CD is so amazingly relaxing, we suggest that you set an alarm! 

14. Pre- and Post-Scans of your Nervous System.

Since your nervous system is the control center of your entire body it is important to determine it’s health.  We will perform a series of scans using the Subluxation Station from CLA.  Five different scans will be preformed including:
Algometry or pain mapping,
Range of Motion of your spine,
Surface EMG to determine the tone of your spinal muscles
Thermal Scan to determine inflammation of the spine
Pulse Wave Profile (Heart Rate Variability) to determine the balance of your autonomic nervous system and general heart health.

Once all of these scans are preformed, an NSFI or NeuroSpinal Functional Index will be calculated.  This is an average of the nervous system scans and gives a reflection of your overall general health.  We will scan you during the week before you start your Extreme Wellness Program and the week after your program has completed.  A complete report will be given to you and a copy sent to your medical provider.
